Library Gals Go To The Future - Cyberpunk Monday
Monday Nov 29, 2021
Monday Nov 29, 2021
Plug in and travel with us to the future, where the Library Gals explore cyberpunk movies, in honor(sort of) of Cyber Monday!
This month, Katy and Via are discussing two extremes of the cyberpunk genre with Ready Player One(2018), an action-packed, nostalgia train of virtual reality in a dystopian world, and A Scanner Darkly(2006), a drug-fueled, conspiracy-filled, psychological crime sci-fi that will have you checking for cameras everywhere. Fun, right?
Both movies are available through the Delaware County District Library. You can also watch A Scanner Darkly using our free movie website, Kanopy. All you need is a library card!
Remember, this podcast contains spoilers! So tune in after a movie viewing or at your own risk.
As always, we'd love to hear what you think of the episode, what your favorite cyberpunk movies are, or any other movie recommendation you'd like us to review in a future episode. You can e-mail us at libraryguys@delawarelibrary.org.
Happy listening! Quick Katy! Back to the DeLorean!

Library Gals Go to Geek Fest! Horror Movie Brackets
Wednesday Oct 27, 2021
Wednesday Oct 27, 2021
Library Guys GALS Go to the Movies comes at you the fourth Wednesday of every month. Join host Via Smith and Katy Hite as we discuss movies so bad they're good, and so bad they're just bad.
Welcome to a special episode of Library Gals Go to the Movies - This episode was recorded as part of our Great Geekfest, which was held virtually on October 9th. We were joined by fellow Horror Movie Fan Mandy from the Powell Branch to fight out two different horror movie brackets. You can watch the video of our recording here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ck_5kFEISWk&t=1584s If you'd like to print out and fill in your own horror movie bracket, you can download the Best Female Director bracket or the Best Modern Final Girl Bracket. Email your winners to us at libraryguys@delawarelibrary.org.
A note on the audio - this was pulled directly from our video file, so there is some background music. Apologies if this is distracting. We also experienced some technical difficulties around minute 40 of the episode, so enjoy Mandy giving you a riveting recap. For full enjoyment, watch the video!
Share your favorite bad movie with us and we might just review your favorite one next. Happy listening!
